In art journal land, I am addicted to the idea of black backgrounds. I could play with fun colors on black all day. This is just black paint and neocolor crayons on top. And sharpie pen. Love.
A blog dedicated to my journey exploring the creative world, mainly through art journals. This is a very new endeavor, as I've spent most of my life thinking I wasn't creative at all. This is still something I struggle with, but I hope I will be able to look back upon the beginning as a jumping point off in my life. I also hope I can inspire other people who do not think they are creative to find their muse and CREATE!

But...I can't draw!!!
The one thing that has always made me think that I wasn't creative was the fact that I couldn't draw. I stopped at that, and just believed if I couldn't draw, I wouldn't ever be creative. If I learn nothing else from my foray's into art journaling, I will forever be grateful to find out that I AM creative! I also have wanted to expand my drawing skills from stick people. I found www.drawspace.com. There are a ton of online drawing lessons you can take. Step by step drawings? That takes the intimidation factor out of it. Here are a few of my lessons that I've done. Now, keep in mind--that I can barely draw stick figures!! You can see all my guidelines, but that is what learning is for.
I am QUITE proud of myself! *Pats self on back*

hi dawn!! it's hard for me to believe that you have felt you aren't creative.....your fabulous journal pages say otherwise!! i know what you mean about drawing.....i just discovered about a year ago that i can indeed draw (and i thought all of these years that i couldn't!!). i'm glad that you've found a site that has shown you the steps.....there's definitely an artist inside of you, and i think that she's coming out in beautiful fashion on the pages of your journal!!
ReplyDeletethanks for your sweet comment on my blog.....it's great to see you there! :))
